Personality: Eccentric, brilliant, a little insane, but he knows his arithmancy. He's friendly, but if you get on his bad side then you should watch out. He doesn't abide the mistreatment of anyone, and has been known to dol out harsh yet fair punishments. He's a great teacher, although sometimes he goes off on a bit of tangent, but he's always available for a bit of extra tutoring if asked. He'd always willing to help out his students, and while he seems to have quite the casual, sarcastic air about him, threaten anyone, and he'll get deadly serious. His students like him, for he's a very charismatic, likeable man, even if he does always seem to know more about any given situation than he lets on. He's always willing to explain things, though, to those...less enlightened than himself.
Character History Blood: Half-blood Parents: Marie Valentine(Pure-blood) and Roger Harkness(Muggle) -Both deceased Siblings: None History/Background: Marie Valentine was born in Venice, Italy, to the wealthy Valentine family, a noble pure-blooded family with strong governmental ties, ironically in both the Wizarding and Muggle world. Several Valentines had been Minister for Magic in Italy, as a point of fact. Great things were always expected of the Valentines, and Marie was no exception. Until she met Roger Harkness.
He was exciting, he was bold, he was terribly, terribly naughty. He was also a muggle. One of those irresistable bad boys, yes? And Marie fell for him like a ton of bricks on a baby grand piano. She was just sixteen at the time, and so she was horrified to learn that she'd become pregnant. Roger assured her it would be all right, everything would be fine. What he didn't know was that the Valentines were a family very proud of their pure-blood heritage, and they couldn't have this half-blood bastard upsetting their perfect lineage. They assured her everything would be fine, and shut her up in her room for a few weeks.
She started to get suspicious when she couldn't reach Roger, no matter what she tried. Muggle telephones, wizard spells, she couldn't find hide nor hair of him! Finally, she was horrified to find his face on the cover of the newspaper, blue and bloated, beneath a banner that read, 'Unknown Man Found Dead On River Bank'. Within the hour, she'd packed what few belongings she held dear and fled the country, knowing full-well that her child would be next. She fled to England, and sure that her family would chase her, she applied for a sylum with the Ministry, which was granted. She was placed in a secure home, fully equipped with every hiding and protection charm they could arrange. And she lived in peace, working a desk job at the Ministry for many years, raising her darling Jack as best as she could, alone.
Jack didn't learn about his father until he was much, much older, except for the wonderful stories his mother told him of the man. He believed every word. His childhood was a happy one, hidden from the family that wanted him dead, sheltered from the knowledge that they were the reason his father was dead. Marie loved him, even if she was very young when he was born. When he was eleven, he received two letters, one for Hogwarts, and another for Durmstrang. She would have simply tossed the letter out immediately, but Jack was already turning out to be exceptionally clever, and argued her down until she finally agreed that yes, it should be his choice where he went to school. After doing research on both his options, Jack decided to go with Durmstrang, as they seemed to offer the more interesting course selection. And so off he went.
Jack never had any problems at school, not with bullies or love or teachers, everybody always seemed to like the charismatic and clever Jack Valentine. He graduated with honours, and set off to travel the world for years, before he returned home to take care of his mother when she fell ill. He was twenty-one then, and she explained the truth about her family, about why he had to stay away from them, about what had happened to his father because of them. While he promised her he would stay away, he couldn't help the biting sense of bitterness this caused him. He'd always wished he could've met his father, who his mother had assigned every positive attribute in the world to, and now he knew why.
His mother passed away a year and a half later from her illness, but it was another half year before news hit the streets that the entire Valentine family had turned up dead, in various ways, over a course of a few weeks. He spent the next few years travelling some more, studying with teachers all over the world, until he became extremely skilled in the art of arithmancy.
He decided to return to England after that, and applied for a job at the Ministry...instead, he found himself offered a job teaching at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Never one to turn down an opportunity, Jack accepted. This is his first year teaching at the famous school.

Good. The Doctor has somewhat grown on me. Not Barty though. Too much competition. So much in fact, he tried to kill me. Did I say that already? Omg. I've NEVER been so glad to see Dumbledore in my entire life. -_- Of course- I could have delt with him myself. It's noot like I was scared or anything.
